The God Centeredness of God

Have you ever considered why God doesn't get tired of our Worship? I mean picture yourself in church. The worship pastor asks you to stand up as the beginning hymn or contemporary song opens the service and a line in the song is repeated five or six times and you just get tired of singing it? Or maybe its really not what you are feeling inside. Maybe you are upset at God or going through a test of faith right now and you do not feel the Spirit moving you. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says "31So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Maybe if you grew up in the church you had to remember this verse in VBS or somewhere in Sunday school. But you did not know what that meant or how significant that means in your life. Well think about this. Did you know that God loves His glory more than He loves us? I've wondered about this statement when a Pastor mentioned it in His sermon. Is that possible? What is the chief end of God? To glorify Himself and enjoy His glory forever. God's glory begins with God's holiness. When you think of holiness what do you first think about? Maybe that God is holy because He is without sin. Well lets elevate that thought and say that God does not sin because He is Holy. God is one of a kind. There is none like Him. He is in a class of His own. Think about everything that is created. While everything else is created, God alone creates. God alone always was. He is all sufficient and has no needs. To say there are other gods like Him is blasphemy.
Sometimes we tie the words Holy and worthy together. Think about it. Lets say you collect baseball cards. The older the cards, the more its worth right? Well think about God. He has always been in existence even before we existed or before the world began. He is absolutely unique, infinitely valuable. God's glory is His holiness on display. Only Christianity is where you cannot earn your way to Him or work your way to Him. You received Him as a gift by grace. He is unique and radical. The more radically God does something it spotlights His glory. Think of the exchange of sin for God's righteousness. What I mean by God's righteousness is God has the right assessment of who He is. God must act according to who He is. So why does God love you? Because God is holy and righteous and that magnifies His glory. Its not always easy to comprehend but God deserves our glory. The next time you sing a song that has the words Holy or Worthy, step back and think why you are singing those words.
